The Root Canal Process

Your dentist will begin by providing a local anesthetic to numb the tooth and its surrounding area. Once you are comfortable, we will use a dental dam to isolate the tooth and keep moisture from reaching it.

To access the pulp and infection, we will create a small opening in the crown of the tooth, making it possible to clear out the inner structure and remove the damaged or decayed pulp. This area consists of nerves and blood vessels that can cause much pain when infected. Once it is removed and the nearby canals are cleaned, we will fill it with a biocompatible solution to help seal the tooth from any future reinfection.

Taking impressions of your smile, we’ll send the images to a local lab, where a dental crown will be created and placed over your treated tooth a few weeks after your procedure.
